Denver the largest city in Colorado and the state capital sits at the foothills of the breathtaking Rocky Mountains. It is nicknamed the Mile High City as its elevation is exactly one mile or 5,280 feet above sea level. Founded during the mid 1800’s at the peak of the Gold Rush, Denver pays tribute to its heritage with a number of historic sites. Included are landmarks such as the elegant Brown Palace Hotel and the recently restored historic Union Station that stand in tribute to civilization of the Wild West.

With a variety of housing opportunities, lower downtown (Lodo) provides a variety of newly constructed loft living opportunities within walking distance or a short ride by light rail to many sporting events, arts and shopping. Characterized by a diverse culture Denver is a major player for sports, cultural events and the arts. Denver is host to four professional sports teams playing in several state of the art events arenas. Invesco Field serves as home to the Denver Broncos and Coors Field is home to the Colorado Rockies. The Pepsi Center is home to the Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets and is also host to numerous national performing artists. Included in the cultural events centers are the Denver Art Museum, Aquarium, historic Paramount Theater and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Center (DCPA) including the newly designed Ellie Caulkins Opera House. The DCPA proudly presents numerous Broadway shows and a wide variety of locally produced theater productions throughout the year.

Primary and Secondary education in Denver is provided by Denver Public Schools (DPS). Student population is approximately 73,000 students including students in 19 area charter schools.
