Boulder is situated in a valley beneath Flagstaff Mountain where the Rocky Mountains meet the Great Plains. Boulder is also home to the University of Colorado Boulder Campus, known as CU Boulder, and the CU Buffs! With large tree lined streets, Tuscan styled buildings, and red tile roofs make the campus of CU Boulder one of the most beautiful in the country.
To mark the beginning of spring, every year the local radio station, KBCO, sponsors the Kinetics race. This is a race across water and land by human powered crafts. This event attracts dozens of entrants and thousands of spectators. This is truly and annual rite of spring in Boulder.
Every year on Memorial Day, Boulder is host to the "Boulder Boulder" 10 km run. Over 50,000 people participate in the event making it one of the largest road races in the world.
